How it works — for technicians
Seven steps from sign-up to getting paid. Takes 3 minutes to read.
1Create your account
Go to fixslate.app/signup — name, phone, email, password. That’s it. Dispatch reviews every application, usually the same day. Until you are approved the board shows “Application received”.
2Put the app on your phone
Open fixslate.app in Safari (iPhone) or Chrome (Android), sign in, then:
- iPhone: Share button → Add to Home Screen
- Android: menu ⋮ → Install app
3Upload your documents
Before you can take jobs the app asks for three things (the “Finish your profile” card on the board):
- Photo ID — front and back, photos taken right from your phone
- Liability insurance — your policy as a PDF or photo
4Set up payouts once
Tap Payouts (green button, top of the board) → Set up payouts with Stripe. Stripe verifies your identity and bank details — FixSlate never sees them. Without this step you cannot be paid.

5Take jobs from the board
The board lists open jobs near you: appliance, problem, area and time window. First come, first served — customer name, phone and exact address unlock only after you take the job. New jobs also arrive by email with a Take job button.Take a job only if you really plan to go: a returned job that nobody covers before the appointment costs a $75 no-show fee.

Everything happens on the job page, top to bottom. Call the customer at least 20 minutes before arriving — the green button dials.📞 Call customer (813) 555-0123

7Charge the customer and get paid
At closeout enter labor and parts — the app computes tax and totals. Ask for the customer’s email (receipt goes there), take the card payment on your phone, get their signature. Your share shows up in Payouts: first “on hold” for a few days, then sent to your bank automatically.
Good to know
- Can’t make an appointment? Ask for a reschedule on the job page — dispatch confirms with the customer. Returning a job to the board is the last resort.
- The board refreshes itself; new jobs also come by email — enable a loud notification for them.
- Stuck? The Call dispatch button at the bottom of the board connects you to a human.
